BeatRoot play the Manding rhythms of West Africa

BeatRoot play traditional Manding rhythms from West Africa. We play djembe, doundounba, sangbang and kenkene drums.

West African drumming is an accessible, enjoyable, stress-reducing and energising group activity that can improve your musical skills and bring participants an understanding of the richness of African culture.

We meet every other Saturday at the Cupar Djembe Workshop at the YMCA, Bonnygate, Cupar, Fife

New members to the workshop are always welcome, and thanks to Awards for All funding we have spare djembes for begginers.

BeatRoot are happy to play at community art events throughout Fife. Click on Contact Us to get in touch.

Fife Council award funding to Cupar Djembe Workshop

Fife Council Community Services has generously awarded Cupar Djembe Workshop a Culture Grant of £1,000.  This will help keep the workshop sessions running on a regular basis now that we can guarantee sufficient funds to pay the tutor fees and venue hire.

We will continue to offer free lessons to newcomers, and keep our regular member fee at £10 per two-hour session.  Also, we will keep  performing as BeatRoot, members can continue to provide entertainment at community arts events.

Cupar Djembe Workshop also acknowledges the support of Awards for All, who last year funded the purchase of extra drums needed at the workshops and during performances.
